Thought Throughout the late spring occasions I went through about a month voyaging Thailand with my family. There I saw many foot reflexology shops brimming with European, American and Australian sightseers. I had many foot kneads myself when I was there and altogether delighted in them. I contemplated internally, what an extraordinary thought and opportunity it could be for me to open a chain of these in the UK, as I have never observed these. Be that as it may, I realized I would need to act rapidly to set up my business and brand first. Normally the idea would need to be adjusted to suit the UK way of life yet the essential rule would be the equivalent. Statistical surveying There are two principle strategies for statistical surveying: * Desk investigate/optional research (utilizes information, or data, which as of now exists in printed structure or PC documents) * Primary research/field examine (acquires unique information or data, which didn't exist previously, from clients and others) The essential information picked up by field examine is critical, in light of the fact that it isn't accessible to some other organizations, except if they do their own exploration. However, it is substantially more costly than work area research and considerably more tedious. At the point when the data has been assembled, it must be ordered, and afterward broke down before any patterns or data become obvious. Optional research is a lot simpler and less expensive than essential research, on the grounds that the information is now accessible and doesn't need to be assembled or broke down. In any case, it is less important in light of the fact that it is frequently obsolete and doesn't generally cover the particular topic of study. This is primarily acquired utilizing the Internet. For my coursework I trust it is ideal to utilize a joint effort of the two sorts of statistical surveying accessible to me. With the two sorts of statistical surveying I would get the best signs to in the ca se of setting up a reflexology boutique would be fruitful. For my optional research I utilized the Internet to discover where my opposition was situated, to do this I utilized the Yellow Pages site (yell.com) to discover the name and addresses of the different treatment spas in postcode W1, as this is the place I intend to open my first We Do Feet branch on Oxford Street. I utilized this data so I could visit my rivals and assemble singular data about them. Anyway I didn't utilize auxiliary research to discover populace considers such, in light of the fact that Oxford Street, in Central London is amassed with individuals consistently. This reality gives me almost certainly that the business will be effective around there. Rivalry There are numerous spa medications that include foot back rub and reflexology. Despite the fact that there are now many, there is immense distinction among these and mine. This implies they are not immediate rivalry as such yet at the same time incorporate comparable medications. Since there is no stroll in, skim out ideas as of now, the spas are my nearest rivals. My first picked area of Oxford Street, is encircled by numerous wellness and Spa treatment focuses. I have done intensive examination into the spas and have discovered numerous here. These include: Hypno first 305, Great Portland St Tel: 020 7255 1567 Champneys Piccadilly 21a, Piccadilly Tel: 020 7255 8000 Wellness First 15, Great Marlborough St Tel: 020 7287 8911 The Pilates Studio Ltd 116, Great Portland St Tel: 020 7636 2636 Alan Herdman Studios 17, Homer Row Tel: 020 7723 9953 Unwind 65-67, Brewer St Tel: 020 7494 3333 Spa 2 88 ,Holles St Tel: 0207 409 0423 Area is significant for my business in such a case that I was in a region, which as of now has numerous treatment places there will be more noteworthy rivalry. I am going to geologically outline so you can see where your rivals are. I have done this in the supplement. At the point when I visited my rivals I discovered you needed to make an arrangement now and again days ahead of time. At that point follow through on a significant expense of à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½45-à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½60, which is the normal for a comparative treatment. This is an exercise in futility and cash. The possibility of We Do Feet is the inverse. The vast majority would cherish the possibility of a loosening up foot back rub and we are offering precisely that. Be that as it may, rather than booking you simply appear without really thinking, you dont need to go through an hour or two it just takes 20 minutes and afterward you (glide out) and pay a à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½10.50 treatment charge and some other buys to the secretary. While not having a similar idea as my rivals I will at present utilize a significant number of their better thoughts. While visiting them I saw that a considerable lot of them had fragrance based treatment burners to emit aromas like lavender and lemon grass. This is a thought, which I am utilizing too. They likewise had tranquil environmental factors utilizing calming music; I thought this was additionally fitting. Selfridges Location Area of my rivals These are whom I consider as my rivals around Oxford Street. These contenders are in their own particular manners extraordinary, with shifting costs, medications and ambiences. I have appraised these by utilizing the procedure of brand mapping. This procedure can help portray a section of the market, recognize the item qualities and shortcomings, assess new ideas and distinguish your opposition. I have set one up to show this and rate where I will be on the guide. Costly Plain Environment Good Climate More affordable KEY TO MAP Hypno first Yellow Champneys Piccadilly Orange Wellness First White The Pilates Studio Ltd Violet Alan Herdman Studios Green Loosen up Black Spa 2 Blue We Do Feet is the pink circle, which is the main organization in the Southwest of the diagram. This shows we are unique in relation to the contenders. Ideally the potential clients will perceive this and afterward take the snappy, cheap, and most helpful experience, which is us. So as to see how my foot knead idea could be best adjusted for the UK I arranged a survey, which would be essential research. From this I can reword and change certain inquiries to make my survey work helpfully and productively. My poll will incorporate Qualitative research. Subjective research includes talking with individuals to discover their perspectives and suppositions. Quantitative research includes doing numerical data. Subjective research will in general be additional tedious and the appropriate responses are normally individualistic. This is acceptable to discover precisely what the interest could be nevertheless it is likewise terrible in the sense it is dreadfully tedious and time is cash. I composed a survey, which resembled this 1. Which Gender Are You? m f 2. What Is Your Age? 3. What Is Your Occupation? 4. What is your present level of pay per annum? 5. Do You Know What Reflexology Is? y n 6. Have You Ever Experienced A Foot Massage? y n 7. In the event that Available Would You Like One? y n 8. OK Be Prepared To Pay à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½10 for 20 mins? y n 9. Who Would You Prefer To Massage Your Feet? m f 10. In the event that Drinks Were Offered During Your Massage OK Like One? y n 11. Would You Be Interested In buying Some Foot Care Products? y n 12. Do You Live In London y n 13. What Magazines Do You Read Market Segment I went to the picked area of Oxford Street and moved toward individuals who were in the market portion in which I am focusing on. This is the piece of the market wherein gatherings of individuals with comparative qualities are connected and for this situation the bustling customers and agents and ladies in London. The greater part of these individuals in the market portion are of either social evaluation A, B or C1 that are the evaluations wherein the financial groupings are partitioned. By taking a gander at the financial gatherings you can see that the vast majority of the clients will be wealthy and would undoubtedly be set up to follow through on the cost of ten pounds. Results/Analysis Following two monotonous days and 65 arrangements of results I went to dissect my outcomes. I have discovered that the individuals that were shopping and strolling through Oxford Street were generally between the ages of 19 and 45. This gave me an excellent sign of the specific market section I am focusing on. I previously had a smart thought of this anyway this was more extensive than I anticipated. I likewise determined that 67% of these individuals were female. Taking a gander at Question 3 I found that almost the greater part of these ladies were not working however were shopping. Anyway the majority of the men I met were working in London. Question 4 gave me a thought of the financial gathering which I was focusing on , they were of class A, B and C1. Shockingly every one of them had a smart thought of what reflexology was, however unfortunately 54 percent of them had never experienced it. Question 7 was the most significant, it demonstrated if the idea was to be fruitful or not . Not incredibly they all cherished the thought and couldn't imagine anything better than to rest for a loosening up break. 92 % of the individuals I drew nearer were keen on having a foot knead and 8% despised the possibility of their feet being contacted. Question 8 was additionally significant on the grounds that I was going to see whether they would follow through on my cost, 82% of the individuals said that they would pay the ten pounds. Ariadne Capital
Ariadne Capital In Berlin we meet Julie Meyer, a great networker, serial entrepreneur and now venture capitalist. She gave us some insights about her entrepreneurial background and the hardships of entrepreneurship, what Ariadne Venture Capital is and what she looks for in a great investment. Lastly, Julie shares some great advice with other first time entrepreneurs.Interviewer: Hi. Today weâre in Berlin with Ariadne Capital. Julie, who are you and what do you do?Julie: Iâm Julie Meyer and Iâm the CEO of Ariadne Capital, and also the founder of Entrepreneur Country, thatâs our discovery platform helping corporates and startups discover themselves. And Ariadne Capital is a venture fund investing in B2B SaaS companies.Interviewer: When did you start this fund and what did you do before you started this?Julie: Iâm very old actually. I came to Europe in 1988 when I was right out of university, and I went to INSEAD in â97, and following INSEAD â"Iâd always worked with technology companies b ut on the marketing side, I basically started doing internet deals. I am getting companies funded, and then I set up a network of entrepreneurs called âFirst Tuesdayâ, which went pan-European and we helped a lot of companies get funded in 1999 to 2000. Then I set up Ariadne Capital, still with this idea that European entrepreneurs did not have a gold standard for the financing of entrepreneurship, that they deserved world class financing, and to do that across Europe is actually quite tickly, because Europe is federated. So you have to think differently. You canât just do the same thing and say, âWell it works in Palo Alto, so therefore itâs going to work in Berlin.â You actually have to think deeply about how to build the proper venture capital business in Europe, which is what weâve done.Interviewer: Can you tell us a little bit about Ariadne Capital. How was the fund structured, how big is it, and what kind of investment spheres are you targeting?Julie: We were the very first people in Europe in 2000 to create this model of entrepreneurs backing entrepreneurs, which is highly à la mode today but nobody was doing that at the founding of a venture capital firm to have leading entrepreneurs, like the founders of Betfair, Hotmail, Worldpay, Qualcomm, so forth, plus myself, as the founding shareholders. So thatâs very unique about our business that our DNA is about entrepreneurs helping other entrepreneurs. On top of that weâve done more than £350 million of investments over thirteen and a half years. We have our own venture capital firm which is at £50 million, so that is about â¬70 million. And then co-invest, so people can co-invest with us, very low fees, lot of it is my money. And basically weâre looking for entrepreneurs that have just that ability to not give up. Theyâre just not going to give up, they are persistent as hell. And B2B SaaS. So we think there is a lot of focus on these digital disrupters, everybody is talking about Airbnb, Uber and so forth, but most of the world is not ever going to be Airbnb and Uber, so what do you do if you are a retailer or bank or an insurance company, whatâs youâre strategy? Well, youâre going to have to open yourselves up and become a platform by engaging with digital enablers or B2B SaaS companies. So those digital Davids are going to have to hop on the back of Goliath, put those digital cars on the highway to acquire customers. We think that thatâs whatâs going to happen in 99% of the cases. Nobody thinks thatâs particularly sexy, but thatâs whatâs going to happen if we fast-forward ten years and look backwards. Itâs not as if Iâm going to create the next Airbnb or Uber â" much as I would like to â" but I will build or help to build a lot of B2B SaaS companies and then help them find the partners that they need to go to market with.Interviewer: So did I get it right that for Ariadne Capital you have a two-sided model, on the one hand you have so me kind of a business angel network, and on the other hand you have your own VC fund?Julie: Thatâs correct.Interviewer: How is the investment process working? How do you find, make due diligence, and decide on which companies you invest?Julie: Because of the Entrepreneur Country network, we have people all of Europe, from Poland to Greece and Dublin to Helsinki, so we have people that will be bringing opportunities in. We see more than one hundred easily, more than one hundred new opportunities to invest every single month. In the month of July weâre actually closing three deals, we invested in a Bitcoin company last Friday. The investment process is fairly quick. We do quite a lot of due diligence, but we do it fast, we do it through our network, and we set up what we refer to as a âpositive architectureâ. So we really believe that the foundations of the building need to be solid. So we do put in a gentle preferential investor rights, so we donât just wing cash over to peo ple for them to say fantastic. We set up a proper company with them. What people tend to do is to get their minimum viable product done with their own money or friends and family, then they get some market traction, then they want Ariadne to come in and to be their partner to anticipate the series A where somebody could really put a five million, ten million Euro check in, and by that time the series A investor is going to really redo your corporate architecture. So itâs better to anticipate that with a group like Ariadne.Interviewer: So are you a seed or series A investor?Julie: We refer to it as âlater stage seedâ. So seed would be what we would refer as to get the minimum viable product done. So weâre after the minimum viable product but weâre probably not going to put in a five million pound check ourselves.Interviewer: What is a typical ticket size?Julie: £500,000, so probably â¬700,000. And we are looking for entrepreneurs that can demonstrate market traction, but they donât understand the complete operating model. So they say, âI still have a couple of assumptions that Iâm working on, but I definitely have people who are buying what I am selling.âInterviewer: What are the major KPIs that you are looking for estimating the traction of a startup?Julie: Typically itâs revenue, typically itâs that somebody is buying what youâre selling. So itâs 250,000 of revenue and so forth. It could be a big partnership deal, it could be user adoption, but typically itâs revenue. I think that itâs all very exciting to get people to use your product, but weâre very business model focused. As I spoke about today here at Tech Open Air Berlin, people get very focused on technology, and we actually think the people who are organizing the economics for the ecosystem are the winners. If you look at how did Apple move the music industry to Macworld, or what Google did with advertising, or Amazon with books, they own the operating model, they own the business model. So if youâre just focused on technology and youâre not thinking about long-term, how does the business model work in the industry, itâs not very interesting to us.Interviewer: From how I think you need to be the spider in the net or in the ecosystems so that everybody else is trying to depend on you, then you can monetize them.Julie: Absolutely. Thatâs very good. Yeah.Interviewer: We always try to give some advice to first-time entrepreneurs. I would be very interested in what advice can you give, what mistakes you have seen and how the entrepreneurs can avoid them.Julie: I would say donât be an entrepreneur if at all possible. Only become an entrepreneur if you feel youâre not going to be okay unless you are. Itâs a very difficult life. It is, it really is. It blows through your personal life, itâs very difficult. I see a lot of entrepreneurs get fat, they donât take care of their health. So if you can be happy working for someone, being part of a startup, be part of a startup, but to found your own business, to put your capital at risk, to make it the priority, and your partner figures out what the priority is in your life, believe me. So you put a lot in jeopardy when you become an entrepreneur. Donât do it â" unless you have to.Iâm the daughter of an entrepreneur and thatâs in my blood, and for me I canât do anything else. I feel obsessed by my work, and I think that great entrepreneurs â" Iâm not saying that Iâm a great entrepreneur â" but the great ones are obsessed with what they do. And so thatâs really my advice, thereâs a lot of people who think itâs very glamorous to run your own business, itâs not, itâs a lot of lost nights of sleep, and itâs a lot of explaining to your mother why you are not home at Christmas, and itâs a lot of explaining to your boyfriend Iâm sorry I have to go to dinner with that person, and yes youâre important but heâs kind of important tonight. So itâ s difficult, itâs not easy. Thatâs the first thing I would say.But if you are an entrepreneur, and if you are going to build it, then what I would say is you have to be open. Youâll have a vision, but you have to be smart enough to listen to people. And I see a lot of entrepreneurs who say âI am just going to⦠I know what it is,â and so forth, and they donât listen. Not everybody who gives you advice is going to be right, itâs still good to know what the market is thinking, itâs good to know what people think about you, itâs good to know and so forth, and you let it just wash right through you. Itâs not as if if somebody says something negative about your business donât take it personally, theyâre trying simply to say I donât understand. Youâve got to be open. And I see a lot of entrepreneurs that it is such a deeply personal thing, âItâs my vision of the future. My venture capital firm is this.â And then somebody says, âNot really working Juliu s.â So just let it roll.Interviewer: Thank you very much Julie.Julie: Youâre very welcome.

Essay on Hamlet -- Is Hamlet Sane - 782 Words
Hamlet Essay: Is Hamlet Sane With the coming of Freudian theory in the first half of this century and the subsequent emergence of psychoanalytically-oriented literary criticism in the 1960s, the question of Hamlets underlying sanity has become a major issue in the interpretation of Hamlet. While related concern with the Princes inability to take action had already directed scholarly attention toward the uncertainty of Hamlets mental state, modern psychological views of the play have challenged his sanity at a deeper, sub-conscious level, typically citing self-destructive and, most pointedly, sexual drives to explain his behavior, his words, and the mental processes beneath them. In a play with undertones of incest and heavy doses ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Moreover, Hamlet plainly does use the guise of madness toward tactical ends. He keeps Claudius, Polonius, and the other males of the play (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern) off balance, unsure of the specific threat he poses but themselves an unable to act q uickly because of it. It is under cover of madness that Hamlet presents his customized mousetrap, his play-within-a play, to successfully capture the conscience of the King. He sees through the Kings plot to have him executed in England, his innocent escorts being unaware of the threat that Hamlet poses to the King. Such deliberate acts in which the appearance of madness is used to advantage are not those of a madman. To be sure, Hamlet sees and speaks with a ghost, but the rational character of Horatio does the same. All of this suggests that Hamlet, while depressed, guilt-ridden, and raging inside, is sane. On the other hand, in his treatment of Ophelia, his former lover, Hamlet displays a cruelty that is extreme, abnormal and, in fact, psychopathological. His declaration, Get thee to a nunnery, why wouldst thou be a breeder of sinners (III, i., ll.120-121), is so vicious in its utter rejection of Ophelias tender efforts to understand him, so lewd in its punning suggestion that OpheliaShow MoreRelatedHamlet Pleads Sane650 Words à |à 3 PagesHamlet Pleads Sane William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s play Hamlet is considered to be a great tragedy in the eyes of many. Sally Satel Free Essays
A Second Chance at Life Sally Satelââ¬â¢s argument in ââ¬Å"Deathââ¬â¢s Waiting Listâ⬠, states that there is an extreme lack of organ donors in this society. ââ¬Å"70,000 Americans are waiting for kidneys, according to The United Network for Organ Sharingâ⬠and ââ¬Å"only about 16,000 people received one last year. ââ¬Å" In large cities, where the ratio of acceptable organs to needy patients is worst, the wait is five to eight years and is expected to double by 2014 ââ¬Å". We will write a custom essay sample on Sally Satel or any similar topic only for you Order Now There is no reason why the wait should be this long because any one can be an organ donor and Satel does a great job of explaining the benefits throughout in her essay. As a previous member of the waiting list, Satel resorted to desperate measures when she considered going to the black market to obtain a kidney that she needed as well as trying a website called matchingdonors. com. She was lucky enough to find a match on the website, but unfortunately he fell through. As far as the black market goes, she thought it was too risky and unsafe even though she was in a life or death situation. This all could have been prevented if more people in our country were to consider themselves organ donors. If the black market isnââ¬â¢t safe for buying movies or getting music illegally, then it is definitely not safe for buying a kidney. This small statement in Satelââ¬â¢s essay provides a shocking emotional appeal to the readers. She brought up a great point that in most European countries, they practice ââ¬Å"presumed consentâ⬠which is when ââ¬Å"all citizens are considered donors at death unless they sign an anti-donor cardâ⬠. In my opinion, I believe that it is harder to say no when the situation is right in front of you, than to say no when you are getting your license at sixteen years old. It is definitely easier to just pass by the opportunity to give life to someone else when the situation does not directly affect you. One of the most popular arguments against organ donation is that it is against the personââ¬â¢s religion. According to OrganDonor. gov, most religions encourage transplants because it is not only an ââ¬Å"act of charity, fraternal love, and self sacrifice,â⬠but also an act of giving. In the instance of The Greek Orthodox Church, they are ââ¬Å"not opposed to organ donation as long as the organs and tissue in question are used to better human life. For example: transplantation or for research that will lead to improvements in the treatment and prevention of disease. â⬠The Greek Orthodox is among twenty-six other religions, including United Methodist, Mormons, Lutherans, Judaism, Islam, Catholicism, Buddhism, Baptist, Amish and The Christian Church that all believe organ donation is beneficial and at the same time, is encouraged. In her essay, Satel used emotional appeal to persuade her audience that everyone should be an organ donor. She added her own experience in the beginning that was both interesting and attention-grabbing, which made the essay much more personal to the reader. There was also a lot of shocking statistics that increased her argument to something stronger and more rational. She never criticized people that choose not to be organ donors, but instead made it clear that it would be an advantage to both the donor and recipient. She successfully gave counterarguments and was able to switch them around to something positive that helped support her argument. The one thing that dissagree with in this article was that she brought up a point hinting that sperm, egg and surrogate mothers were the same thing as donating organs. I do not believe this at all, because when someone gives sperm or an egg they are giving away a carbon copy of themselves for no reason other than to give another family a child. It is not a life or death situation like organ donation is and giving away copies of yourself has nothing to do with after-death procedures. That part of the essay should have been omitted because it is completely irrelevant and useless information. Satel also spent a lot of time on her personal story at the beginning. It was a nice start to her essay but it was a little bit too much and she should have had more information about why the opposing views are wrong as well as more benefits to donating organs. I agree completely with Satelââ¬â¢s reasoning that giving incentives would increase the total amount of donors and I believe that those measures should be taken as soon as possible. Innocent lives are being lost everyday just because there are not enough people in the United States that put ââ¬Å"organ donorâ⬠on their driverââ¬â¢s licenses. Those two, very simple words can mean the world to someone on the waiting list, and there is no reason why everyone shouldnââ¬â¢t be a donor, especially with financial incentives. Nuclear Energy Benefits
Nuclear energy use has taken priority in many countries today. It is argued that it affects the environment negatively and can pose a great risk to human beings and their existence. However, it is the most cost effective and environmentally friendly way of generating electricity. In addition, the risks associated with the source of energy can be avoided. This essay will argue that nuclear energy is the most effective way of generating electricity.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Nuclear Energy Benefits specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More One of the factors why nuclear energy is an effective source of energy is that it is cost effective. Electricity generated from nuclear energy is economical and saves cost when compared with other forms of electricity from renewable sources like sun, wind, biomass and water. It is cost effective in the sense that the processes of conducting research and developing it receive governm ent support in terms of finances. As result, research and development costs that are supposed to be incurred in producing nuclear energy are not reflected in electricity. In other renewable sources of electricity, funding is done by private bodies hence increasing the cost of electricity. The other factor that makes nuclear energy cost effective is that the risks associated with this type of energy are passed on to all the citizens as opposed to a few individuals or companies that own nuclear plants. This is because there is usually legal liability underinsurance for the plants. The cost would have been very high if the companies that operate the plants were required to take insurance covers for dangers that occur at the plants (Time for Change, n.d). Apart from cost effectiveness, nuclear energy is also environmentally friendly. Studies on energy impacts mostly focus on the impacts on the environment. Some impacts like displacement of people and interruptions caused on the land are not considered very important. Nuclear energy is environmentally friendly in that it does not emit greenhouse gases. The operations of nuclear energy plants do not produce these gases which are associated with global warming. The emissions associated with nuclear energy cycle are indeed moderate hence nuclear power plants can instead be used to prevent global warming. In addition, replacing coal with nuclear energy has many environmental benefits. The electricity supplied from nuclear energy throughout the world is only 14.8 percent. On the other hand, the energy supplied by coal is more than 40 percent. The fuel cycle generated when coal is used to produce energy is harmful to the environment.Advertising Looking for essay on environmental studies? Let's see if we can help you! This leaves nuclear energy an environmentally friend ly source of energy when compared with other renewable sources of energy (Oââ¬â¢Sullivan, 2009). During nuclear energy production, uranium nuclei are split without instances of pollution in the process. This is contrary to what happens in other energy production means which burn certain materials. For example, burning of coal to produce energy is associated with air pollution. The different types of air pollution caused consequently lead to environmental issues which affect the health of human beings. For example, mercury produced during coal burning is harmful to the nervous system. There are various ways that can be used to reduce the risks associated with nuclear energy. One of its risks is the harm that may arise from disposal of wastes produced during the processes of energy generation. The radioactive wastes produced during the processes are difficult to recycle or dispose using the normal disposal or recycling means. One way of avoiding the risk associated with such wastes is by storing them in long term facilities which give them enough time to decay without being disturbed. By doing this, harmful isotopes are allowed to safely decay until they pose no risk to human lives (Lindsay, 2004). The other way of reducing the risks associated with nuclear energy is conducting major improvements in nuclear energy plants. The major improvements include increasing safety levels in uranium mines. In addition, cleaner storage facilities are important in reducing the risks associated with nuclear energy. When these measures are combined with increased accuracy and versatility, nuclear energy turns out to be one of the best energy sources (Hagler, 2011). Despite the objections that are raised regarding the use of nuclear energy, it is undoubtedly the most effective way of generating energy. When compared with other renewable ways of generating energy such as coal, nuclear energy has many benefits. For example, it is cost effective and environmentally friendly.Adve rtising We will write a custom essay sample on Nuclear Energy Benefits specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More References Hagler, A.
